Celebrate Love!
It doesn't have to be stressful! Just do whatever makes you and your partner happy - and if you're single, celebrate yourself! Whether you want to go nuts with a hot air balloon ride and wine or just want to spend the night in with pizza (and probably still wine), Valentine's Day can be whatever you damn well, please!
Pack a picnic and take off early in the morning to watch the sunrise, or perhaps you want a romantic sleep-in with breakfast in bed ....... keep it simple and share some quality time with your best friend and/or lover! If you plan something ahead of time, you are likely to get great results and your partner will appreciate the effort, no matter what your budget!
Creamy, Fruity Stuffed French Toast Hearts
- 3 large eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- A couple drops pure vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup raspberry or strawberry jam/preserves
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- 8 slices white bread
- 2 tablespoons butter
In a medium bowl whisk together the eggs, milk and vanilla and set near the stove. In a small bowl, mix together the cream cheese and jam/preserves; set aside.
Warm the syrup in a small saucepan over low heat or in the microwave on high for 1 minute.
Spread the cream cheese and jam mixture evenly over 4 bread slices. Top with the remaining 4 bread slices to make 4 sammies. Cut each sammy using a 4-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter - if you haven't got one you can try to cut yourself. Snack on the crusts!
Melt the butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Dip the hearts in the egg mixture and cook in the skillet, until golden brown, about 3 minutes on each side. Serve the hearts with the warm syrup and lots of love. YUM!!!!
